Galt Foundation COVID-19 Statement

March 23, 2020

Dear Staff, Clients and Community Members,

There is no denying that the world is facing major, unprecedented changes. COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus, is impacting individuals, families and communities across the country and across the globe. In the midst of this time of overwhelming uncertainty, the executive team at Galt Foundation wanted to reach out to remind our clients and stakeholders that we are here for you, and to provide an important update on how COVID-19 is impacting our operations and how we are mobilizing our resources to shift the tide of this crisis.

These Are Challenging Times

As the nation’s leading staffing agency for persons with disabilities, we are no stranger to confronting and overcoming adversity. For over 25 years, we have helped mobilize extraordinary people into positions that have been the backbone of Commercial and Governmental agencies.

The current COVID-19 impact is without parallel and will require an equally unparalleled effort to overcome it. Our years of experience and agility allow us to continue to remain grounded in our mission of creating a world where every person is valued for their ability and to effectively serve the needs of our many stakeholders.

We are actively monitoring the situation across the nation, and we are particularly vigilant of the impact to important communities in Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Oregon, where many of our clients and field staff work and live.

Links to websites of official government health agencies in these areas are provided below. They contain up to date information about the status of COVID-19 in these regions and important directives from State and local officials. We encourage anyone reading this and who is in these areas to visit these sites and share these links with your own personal networks.

All Pennsylvanians have an important role to play in stopping the spread of #COVID19 and saving lives.

Your job right now is to stay calm, stay home and stay safe.#FlattenTheCurve pic.twitter.com/JkAsvKHu2h

How Galt Foundation is Addressing COVID-19

The health and safety of Galt’s staff and clients are our top priorities. As such, we have implemented several measures designed to reduce the risk of exposure and/or transmission of COVID-19 while maintaining continuation of service.

Many of our internal operations staff are working remotely and we are encouraging individuals to be extra vigilant about practicing social isolation and good health practices.

All interviews and orientation sessions are now being conducted virtually. Additionally, we have implemented important procedural changes to ensure the safety of our field staff by checking for and requiring protocols be in place for COVID-19 preparation prior to anyone being assigned to work.

We Are Rising to the Occasion

Galt is on the front lines of this crisis in crucial departments that must continue to function and provide the necessary services to residents and businesses. Now, more than ever, it is vitally important to the success of the effort to combat COVID-19 that clients maintain direct access to temporary support personnel to cover for those who may be unable to work or to add surge capacity in dealing with extra demand.

While the current situation can represent a time of uncertainty and tension, it can also be viewed as an opportunity to develop new ways of thinking and of serving others. At this time, we are re-distributing our staffing resources to help address new needs and opportunities that have arisen as a result of COVID-19, and we are constantly informing our field staff of available work.

Galt is ready to help assist in providing rapid access to capable, work-ready personnel and we encourage clients to reach out directly to us at www.galtfoundation.org.

In the days ahead, it is important to remember and count persons with disabilities among the assets that American communities can mobilize to stem the tide of this crisis. Their strength, courage and resilience in the face of personal adversity make them a beacon of hope, especially in the current environment.

In these extraordinary times, it is important not to see differences, but rather to embrace everyone who can help.

Every Action can Help

Many folks are wondering what, if anything, can be done to help. The best advice from officials is, wherever possible, to stay calm, stay home and stay safe. Practice social distancing and stay informed by turning to trusted sources of information like those provided below.

Like many of the heroes of this crisis, Galt field staff are the frontline healthcare workers assisting the sick and vulnerable while medical resources are stretched thin, and they are the administrative support required to ensure people and resources find their way to each other, and are among the capable workers who are keeping schools, hospitals and public spaces clean and safe.

To everyone working to make a difference during this crisis, we want to extend our deepest gratitude.

Whenever America has been tested, we have shown each other and the world that our greatest strength is our resolve.

Now, more than any other time in our history, we need everyone to resolve to work together. Patience, not perfection, is key during this time.

We pray you, your families and your communities stay safe and healthy.
